Misfits 03:40
This is where we left off Right before lift off Hopped a plane to Spain Expecting not to look back To start over and Smell the roses Not be so serious Try out new poses It’s been a while I’ve come alive! Think I found where I can be myself That feeling as a kid Jem and the Holograms That’s cool, but I just wanna be a misfit La la la la la always be a misfit La la la la la always be a misfit Welcome back to the second act That’s the part where you wake up in your childhood bed How did I get here? I can hear the laugh track Like I hit my head Take me back now It’s been a while I’ve come alive Now I know where I can be myself Don’t speak the language Never fit in No pasa nada I just wanna be a misfit! La la la la la always be a misfit La la la la la always be a misfit La la la la la always be a misfit La la la la la la la la la la la la la la If you feel you’re in the wrong boat Better swim than sit around and float Rip off the goddamn door From the hinges Don’t be stingy about it It’s your life to live Don’t miss it That’s cool, but I just wanna be a misfit La la la la la always be a misfit That’s cool, but I just wanna be a misfit La la la la la always be a misfit That’s cool, but I just wanna be a misfit La la la la la always be a misfit That’s cool, but I just wanna be a misfit

Nikki waits for the bell to ring Kiss goodbye the chaos of today Sneak away to La Ville Lumièr Just because we can Or stay right here in Madrid Cuz it’s the best city in the land Oh you don’t believe me? That’s your prerogative Don’t need a kiss from rose To prove my happiness The sky is alive Look up or you’ll miss The pink pink roses You’re singing my life You’re singing my life Nikki starts to get in the groove Saved by the bell, no longer her mood Skip the metro Ladies in their fur coats from the Franco days Pretty boys walking hand in from hand From Chueca down to Lavapiés Don’t believe in magic But this will do She cracks a smile like a sliver of the moon A Salvador Dalí dream come true Painted with pink pink roses (You’re singing my life) With pink pink roses (You’re singing my life) Oh my love, my love You skipped the light fandango I hear the castanets You second wind In triple meter Oh, me gusta mucho Skipped that dang fandango I hear the rent is cheap Your lease on life Says let's keep dancing (dancing, dancing, dancing, dancing) Let’s keep dancing You’re singing my life

I’m up all night But I’ve got…no regrets (ahh, ahh) Patatas bravas Burrata with balsamic And greasy croquettes (the best, the best) Viva Madrid, mi corazon (ohh ohh, ohh ohh) Wherever we go I’m at home (home home, home home) Viva Madrid, mi corazon (ohh ohh, ohh ohh) Wherever we go together I’m in love (love love) I’m up all night from a long night out But I’ve…no regrets Menu del dia So nice to see you With an aperol spritz I’m up all night Eat what you like, do what you feel (ahh, ahh) Pulpo a la Gallego Like walking the Camino Over again I’m up all night Dreaming of a midnight snack (ahh, ahh) Cocido Madrileño Churros con chocolate, I’m coming back And I’ll meet you at the counter

Did I stutter when I spoke? Did I not look you in the eyes? Seems like everything’s a joke to you Jumped the shark so many times Oh I’m mad at you USA Because…it doesn’t have to be this way I’m not even asking for Frivolous things You’re telling me! We coulda had nice things The whole, the whole time, whole time Did I stutter Life’s a bummer Workin’ for that yankee dollar Stressing out And getting sick But can’t afford to take a break Oh I’m mad at you USA Because…it doesn’t have to be this way I’m not even asking for High-speed trains That’d be nice To get away But they’d find a way to make us work more hours in day Things not going your way Despite all your rage You’re always on the go-go-go-go-go not going your way Always on the go-go-go-go-go not going your way You’re not alone, they say Just pick up the phone They work you to the bone-bone-bone-bone-bone bone-bone-bone-bone-bone Thing not going your way In rat race, rat race, rat race Yeah, we coulda had nice things The whole time (Always on the go-go-go-go-go not going your way) (Always on the go-go-go-go-go not going your way) Yeah, we coulda had nice things The whole time (Always on the go-go-go-go-go not going your way) (Always on the go-go-go-go-go not going your way) Coulda had nice things the whole time Coulda had nice things the whole time

Promise me If we run away Keep wearing that blueberry beret Trade our old life For a fairytale Now we’re on our way Meet you in a new dream We’re on the road To Catalonia, but you know? As much as we love Pyrenean hobbit homes Might as well be on the moon Reflecting on the water Wind in your hair like a Ramone Wanna keep rocking out in Tossa De Mar But we both know it’s not home Can’t beat the view on top of Montserrat But I forgot to wear the right shoes Might as well be on the moon I think about you day and night (day and night) I’d walk the moon and even do the macarena To help you chase that magic light (day and night) Always wearing your blueberry beret Never been alone On Christmas Day before As much as I love glühwein from a paper cup Might as well be on the moon Happy new year Melting raclette on a table stove With friends I’ve known since I was seventeen Now baby, that feels like home Doesn’t matter where we go Day and night, you’re my home Baby, that’s when I’m home I think about you day and night (day and night) I’d walk the moon and even do the macarena To help you chase that magic light (day and night) Always wearing your blueberry blueberry, blueberry beret Why go to bed when the sun goes down? (day and night, day and night) When in Spain we siesta by day And fiesta under the moon Run away in your blueberry beret (day and night, day and night) Run away in your blueberry beret (day and night, day and night) I think about you day and night (day and night) I’d walk the moon and even do the macarena To help you chase that magic light (day and night) Always wearing your blueberry blueberry I think about you day and night (day and night) I’d walk the moon and even do the macarena To help you chase that magic light (day and night) Always wearing your blueberry, blueberry, blueberry beret

I’m on my way Feels right Drawbridge up Don’t ask me why We want to, want to, want to Go a little overboard Lost my way So many times The wrong way Feels right We need to, need to, need to Find something bigger than ourselves But I should tell you something else I wanna see ya in Andalusia (Ah ah ah ah) Steps of the Albaicín Lights of Sevilla (Ah ah ah ah) Storm the gates Late at night Burn the bridge A thousand times We rumble and tumble and fumble because It’s less scary than the light I found my way This time it feels right Don’t need a map to tell me why I need you, need you, need you to See this place with your own eyes So I’ll ask you one more time I wanna see ya in Andalusia (Ah ah ah ah) Steps of the Albaicín Lights of Sevilla (Ah ah ah ah) Cordoba people singing the macarena I wanna see ya…Andalusia (Ah ah ah ah) Now I'm on my way That’s the price we pay To find the beauty in a dark twisted fantasy A state of mind I feel the same but I’ve changed Inside a mystery So much history Afraid I lost my way Tucked away in a cave Remember music, I knew that you were meant for me Yeah, I miss you and me Yeah, I miss you and me Andalusia Wish I could see you again Everybody clapping to sad songs They make me happy That’s how we get through the pain That’s how we get through the pain Ahhhhh… That’s how we get through the pain I wanna see ya in Andalusia (Ah ah ah ah) I wanna see ya in Andalusia (Ah ah ah ah) I wanna see ya in Andalusia (Ah ah ah ah) I wanna see ya in Andalusia (Ah ah ah ah) I wanna see ya in Andalusia

I know I look defenseless Unprepared for this Senseless world And you swoop in with your kindness But I’ve got this On my own Contrary to every book we read I’m not going to Sink in quicksand Without a helicopter Without a lifeline I’ll be fine I’ll be fine Have a little faith in my ability to get by Have a little faith in my ability to get by I know you get defensive Sensitive On the ropes Thank you for your kindness But I’ll fix this On my own It’s not an obstacle course I’ll get over the moat Of vicious alligators Without a grappling hook I won’t be clotheslined by ‘Merican Gladiator Malibu Malibu Have a little faith in my ability to get by Have a little faith in my ability to get by There’s no shortcut through the woods Warp whistle Force field Fort Knox Bulletproof plan (Have a little faith, have a little faith) There’s no skip to the sunset Deus ex machina Narrowly escape without a scratch (Have a little faith, Have a little faith) Have a little faith in my ability to get by Have a little faith in my ability to get by Have a little faith in my… Have a little faith, have a little faith

If you travel back in time Tell the old me Have some fun It's raining It's pouring That young man is boring me to tears And I know that the beat goes on Drink your lemonade Coming out of the fog Haven’t felt this way Since I was seventeen Riding my bike Like I was a golden god Remember that feeling Reel ‘round the fountain I’m free-wheeling Might throw up From caring too much, oh oh Hide from the sun It’s not so serious (Serious) Hide from the sun We’ll walk away from everyone Hide from the sun It’s not so serious (Serious) Hide from the sun We’ll walk away And I know that the beat goes on Drink your lemonade Out by the pool Only feel this way On holiday Take my picture and put it on Instagram Forget that feel feeling Man in the mirror Make it to the weekend Might freak out In the meantime, if you know, you know Hide from the sun You’ve got to hide from the sun You’ve got to Hide from the sun That sound like anyone you knew? The old me, the old you Let’s have some fun Throw caution to the wind, I know We’ll find We’ll find our groove Hide from the sun Hide from the sun Hide from the sun Hide from the sun

BEST THING 03:09
If you told me I was ready To go steady With the unknown, I’d say You don’t know me Loneliness and I me are like this Leave me to be In my little nest Feeling like a crab without a shell Why change if it’s working well But the world keeps spinning out of control Oh what the hell That’s rock and rock Hold my hand now here we go Always the last to dive in Now I don’t want it to end Cuz it’s the best thing I’ve ever known Pass me an aperol spritz Cuz I could get used to this Yeah, it’s the best life I’ve ever known So we moved into the city Feeling gritty Room with a view And the sound of bottles clanking Garbage trucks coming every night Crank up the fan So we can sleep tight But I’m sleeping like a baby for a start Wrote this song on pawn shop guitar Then it hit me like a leg of jamón When I’m here with you I’m home And the best is still yet to come The plazas filled to the brim I’m feeling like a kid again It’s the best time I’ve ever had It’s not too late to begin Your train will be here any minute It’s the best thing, living your best life Live it up Don't do that thing Where you dip your toes in By the time you're loosened up You're leaving, you're leaving Jump on the table With a rose in between your teeth To the strum of flamenco Olé, Olé Don’t wake me up from this dream I’ve fallen off the map again It’s the best thing, the best thing You never know what you’ll find If you give yourself the time It’s the best thing in the world The best thing

Spanish ways to say goodbye So many phrases None of them precise Adios is formal Chao, no vemos to my friends Suerte is good luck to anyone Even if we just met 7 reasons I’m saying goodbye Spanish tortilla, I’ve had enough for two lifetimes People talk a mile a minute But they walk so slow Doesn’t matter cuz the shops are closed I miss my band My family And my friends back home So, I guess, I’ll leave it at that… Hasta luego Pass the vino Hasta la vista No one says that, baby Nos vemos luego Now that’s the way Hasta pronto Mas tinto de verano Cuidate Look out for yourself I know I’ll see you again Somewhere out there in the world Come to Madrid before we say goodbye So many tapas So little time To get lost in the side streets And see what it’s like To find your rhythm by surprise Look it up on Google But I doubt that you’ll find A word that’s better than magic For a Spanish goodbye

about

Our second album, Spanish Ways to Say Goodbye, is a love letter from a life abroad. The music was conceived in Spain, but born back in Seattle. From high-speed trains to Aperol Spritzes to dancing the Macarena, it chronicles the highs and lows of packing up an old life, falling in love with a new one, and the baggage of coming home.

Thanks to producer William Cremin (Cumulus) who brought the music to life with his virtuosic playing and pop-production wizardry. Thanks also to guest vocalists Gnossienne and Helen Chance, bassist Luke Rägnar (Smokey Brights), drummer Matt Badger (Ravenna Woods, Hannah Ramone), guitarist Kennith Darling (Local Liars), and violinist Faith Eskola (Whispered the Rabbit).
